Was light sparring with a wing chun friend. He hasn't trained in about 2 years, so hospital control is off. It was a center line sparring and no guarding. Striking was supposed to be with open hands. Oops! Now Dan has a nice shiner and my bud feels like poop!

I kept trying to tell him not to sweat it. Everyone gets hit, especially if you are not guarding and the other guy is a few years outa practice. He thinks he defaced me. I tell him hell no. It is how things are for a teacher. We get hit and hurt by those we are teaching. It is all part of the game.

I also must admit that our training sessions was after I had 4 shots and about 6 beers. Lord knows how much he had to drink. I think it was a blast! I've gotten hurt worse and by children and old men.

All in all it was a good day!

The exercise is one where you push the opponent's guard out of the way and follow up with a quick strike (punch/back fist). When not using head gear it is supposed to be done with open hands to avoid injury. Even after all I drank I still struck with open hands, but my bud got over exited and forgot to leave his hands open. And since I was not guarding, I got a pop in the left eye. Looks cool though!

I call it drunken hapkido!. I just wish the other guy remembered that it was supposed to be opened hand!

Hmm... I can't think of anyone to say about this one.

This is what happens when you spar with open hands and the other guy forgets and goes at it closed fist.
This Osi what experience and training does for ya. It helps you know when to fight and when to play, ensuring that no one gets hurts when it's not combat.
