I'm looking forward to meeting others in the Chicagoland area who practice Hapkido.
I love the self-discipline, respect, and comraderie one develops as a result of practicing Tae kwon do and Hap ki do. As a high-school art teacher, I have had to deal with lots of stressful situations.
However, since I began to study and practice martial arts, stress no longer affects me in the same way. In fact, I would say that martial arts have been a blessing in my life.
Where do you study or practice?

I feel the same way about the role of martial arts in my life in reducing stress, helping me stay emotionally balanced, and even curing some of my physical ailments. It's an amazing side effect and one people don't always expect.
Many parents are reluctant to start their children in martial arts because they think their kids will start fights or hurt other kids. But it's just the opposite. Martial arts children are generally much more disciplined and calm. They don't need to get into fights because they have a sense of security and don't need to prove anything.
