On the 'hapkido on fight quest' forum a statement was made which raised a few questions for me.

"...I have found it vastly different from the style of HapKiDo I studied in the US..." - AllanJGAnderson

The reason is the Hapkido they showed to us on Fightquest was fairly close to what I'm currently studying here in Canada.

My questions would be:
a)How many different Hapkido styles are there out there?
b)Exactly how different are they?

1) this is a great idea. Also having a tag for what art that we can pick so the aadmins font have extra work and a tag for the amount of post we have made.

2) this should be moved to another post.

Ok, I'm very confused!

These are the offical kwans of the Korean Hapkido Federation. The kwans for the International Hapkido Federation and the Kido Hae are not listed.

So, all these kwans are part of the Korea Hapkido Federation? By the way.. what does the word "kwan" mean?

I've trained Cheong Kyum Kwan and my master told me that CKK belongs to The Korea TRADITIONAL Hapkido Federation.

I'm really confused, the kwans are the styles and these styles are from KHF?

The three major hapkido associations are the Korea Hapkido Federation, International Hapkido Federation and Korean Kido Hwe. Kwan  means gym or school. Each of these associations have various kwans. A number of Grandmasters and Masters have branched off to found other associations. So, your confusion is understandable. My personal viewpoint is loyalty to your Master teacher. That is my two cents.
